I would be interested on his opinion on running in for the engine, brakes, clutch and gearbox.
As per the owner manual. Nothing out of the ordinary to any other new Ford

It has been mentioned that a warning light comes on after 800kms in drift mode will this be the only time the oil in the RDU will need to be changed or is there a regular service interval as well.
A service of the unit is required at 50,000 miles

1) Would Rs come with a blanking off plate to UK?
2) Would the use of Track and Drift mode validate your warranty, even though you've changed an Rdu oil on time/when adviced by the car systems ?
1. Every Focus RS will be fitted with the blanking plate. They came across a possible issue when cars were tested at motorway cruising speed over long distances in humid conditions. In extreme conditions this could lead to the exhaust getting hotter than normal and potentially causing damage to the catalytic converter.
2. No track or drift mode use will effect the warranty. All covered.

Does he no what torque they have tested the RDU to or what safety factor they have tested to, this might give us an idea of future capabilities / tuning. Seeing as some think this is the restricting factor. Thanks.
The RDU has been tested purely for the job it needs to do ie work with the standard RS within the normal tolerances for Ford. The calibration for the system is incredibly complicated with 1400 tables for the 4wd system. He suggested just whacking more power in to it without recalibration would not be the best route to go.

How much abuse will the clutch take with the use of launch control.
I asked the test drivers this one. They have been doing launch control starts all day, every day for the past 3 weeks and have not had a single case of any clutch slip let alone damage.

Zero fade from production brakes during track use is virtually unheard of, how did you achieve this? we know about the brake cooling but I assume the pads are a bit special too.
Standard brake pads are fitted. The only car there that had upgraded pads was the one used by Ben Collins

What sort of engineering issue's needed to be overcome to package the 2.3 Mustang engine into a transverse configuration for the Focus engine bay environment ?
"We turned it 90 degrees"

Can you explain the science behind why the intercooler is too eficient that it needs a blanking plate to restrict flow.
I assume the discovery was made during extreme conditions so would there be any adverse effect removing it in the UK.
See above

A number of reviews have stated that that the cs seats are too high. Top gear review stated that ford were working on a fix for this. Is this the case?
Ford representatives confirmed they are looking at a "fix" for this

Since its been mentioned in a few reviews and i asked the question of the forum months ago:
Does he (or ford) frown upon flat foot shifting between 1st and 2nd when using launch control or is the system designed to cope with flat foot shifting.
He didn't really have an opinion on this, more it's your car so do it if you want.

can you confirm the hardware differences between the Mustang 2.3 application and the Focus RS 2.3
im aware the cylinder head is made of a different material to withstand greater heat but what else was changed to achieve the 33PS power gain ?

Will excessive use of the launch control have adverse effects on the longevity of the running gear and transmission system?
Is this feature therefore fully covered under the standard manufacture warranty?
No issues and fully covered under warranty. There is no counter for launch control

Will Rs make me look like a better driver, then I actually am ?
In my experience, definitely :yep:

With the driving modes ... Can they be selected whilst driving or does the car have to be stopped to select a different mode ?
Any mode can be selected with the "drive mode" button while driving and it is instant. One thing Jurgen did add is that the button on the column stalk to change the damper setting is also instant. So for example if you like bumping over kerbs on a track you can approach a corner in firm, switch to soft over the kerb, and then straight back to firm.
