I just came across an RS owner here in Sweden who had an engine failure not too long ago. It is a 2010 RS (an standard, to the best of my knowledge). When the engine failed the car was 1 year old with 39,000 km (25k miles) on the odo.
According to the owner he whole car suddenly started to vibrate violently at idle after coming off the motorway. No visual signs (no leaks and no warning lights in the dashboard), so he decided to drive home being very easy on the throttle. Next day he fired it up again and the vibration was still present, so he called Ford and the car was picked up and brought to the nearest Ford dealer.
Originally, Ford tried to refuse a warranty claim due to the 1st service being 3,000 km past the official marker. Typical. Luckily they came around and replaced the whole engine. Their conclusion was a cracked liner in cyl 1.
In the process Ford took a couple of pictures of the old engine which they shared with the owner. I'll post them up later... Not sure if they actually reveal much to the eye, though.
Lasst mal eure Meinung hören...wo ist da der defekt? Dort wo es blaugefärbt ist? Oder in der Mitte vom Bild...links vom Pleuel unter dem Kolben? Riefe in der Zylinderwand?
